 About this opportunity

 

 

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced operations leader to further build and optimize a large supply chain operation.   Reporting to the General Manager, the Distribution Centre Manager (DCM) will support the 80,000 sq ft. Edmonton Facility.The DCM will support and lead the day to day operations managing 4 direct reports and 150 indirect reports. Direct reports include the Warehouse Manager, Distribution Manager, Fleet Supervisor, and Equipment Service Supervisor. Additional responsibilities and opportunities are collaborating with Union leaders developing short/long term strategies as well play an integral role in discussions around innovations on operational optimization opportunities. Also responsible for the Lloydminister facility and equipment service team.

 

 

 

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage all logistics activities and cycles to ensure efficient operations of delivery, merchandising, fleet and warehouse 
  • People management – performance management, development & succession planning, recruitment, hiring & terminations, employee relations, labour relations (mediations and grievances)  
  • Set distribution center goals, metrics and monitor KPIs 
  • Work with sales, warehouse & fleet departments to ensure deliveries are timely, accurate, and efficient
  • Support Dispatch group with route planning and management
  • Identify, plan and lead the execution of optimization initiatives working with key stakeholders, vendors and senior leaders
  • Lead and support on change management initiatives
  • Collaborate with union leaders to support on short and long term strategies
  • Ensure all regulatory compliance standards and facility policies are reported on and achieved (Safety standards, DOT regulations, and EEOC guidelines)    
  • Ensure support requirements met across the supply chain to ensure delivering high customer service levels     
  • Ensures that all Corporate/NABU initiatives are implemented (OFS, etc.)    
  • Full P &L responsibility to meet OPEX budgets

 

Qualifications

  • 10 years previous management experience in a large unionized operation preferred
  • Completed post-secondary education or equivalent work experience required
  • Strong influencing and people management skills required
  • Experience managing teams through transformation and change management
  • Ability to collaborate with and influence a large unionized workforce through a team of managers maintaining a positive & collaborative work environment 
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with Union Leaders and fostering positive relationships
  • Business acumen and solid presentation skills for multiple audiences from front line staff to senior / executive leaders 
  • Solid understanding of regulatory compliance standards and safety standards and experience tracking and reporting KPIs
