About this opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced operations professional to lead continuous improvement and organizational development initiatives as well as manage a large scale supply chain operation (630K sq. feet, 2.5MM case storage capacity)   Reporting to the General Manager, the Distribution Centre Manager (DCM) will support the Brampton Facility encompassing the expanded GTA Region, managing 5 direct reports and 550+ indirect reports. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Manage all logistics activities and cycles to ensure efficient operations of delivery, fleet, equipment service and warehouse 
  • People management – performance management, development & succession planning, recruitment, performance management, leadership development, employee and labour relations
  • Establish, and lead distribution center goals, metrics and monitor KPIs 
  • Collaborate with cross functional stakeholders within the facility which would include Production, Inter Plant Transportation (IPT) and Sales and collaborate to drive efficiencies within the facility
  • Collaborate with Production team for inventory cost control
  • Support Dispatch group with route planning and management
  • Identify, plan and lead the execution of optimization initiatives working with key stakeholders, vendors and senior leaders
  • Lead and support on change management initiatives
  • Collaborate with union leaders to support on short- and long-term strategies
  • Ensure all regulatory compliance standards and facility policies are reported on and achieved (OSHA/safety standards, DOT regulations, and EEOC guidelines)    
  • Ensure support requirements met across the supply chain to ensure delivering high customer service levels     


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years previous management experience in a large-scale unionized operation encompassing ownership for a breadth of supply chain disciplines is required

  • Completed Post-secondary education preferably in Engineering or Logistics and Supply Chain or equivalent work experience required

  • Strong influencing and people management skills required

  • Experience leading large teams through transformation and change management

  • Ability to collaborate with and influence a large unionized workforce through a team of managers maintaining a positive & collaborative work environment 

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with Union Leaders and fostering positive relationships

  • Business acumen and solid presentation skills for multiple audiences from front line staff to senior / executive leaders 

  • Total understanding of regulatory compliance standards and OSHA standards and experience tracking and reporting KPIs

  • Continuous improvement/LSS is an asset
